After The Storm
1 min read
Conflict doesn't always shout. — Sometimes
Conflict doesn't always shout.
Sometimes
it rearranges the room
without moving a single chair.
People continue smiling.
Meals are still served.
Birthdays are celebrated.
Yet everyone knows
which subjects
cannot be touched.
Children notice this first.
They become experts
at reading absence.
The joke
that wasn't funny.
The apology
that never arrived.
The conversation
that changed direction
the moment truth entered.
They learn
peace isn't always peace.
Sometimes
it's simply everyone's agreement
to postpone another explosion.
Healing begins
when silence
is no longer mistaken
for safety.
